Lincoln: In 1865, as the American Civil War winds inexorably toward conclusion, U.S. president Abraham Lincoln endeavors to achieve passage of the landmark constitutional amendment which will forever ban slavery from the United States. However, his task is a race against time, for peace may come at any time, and if it comes before the amendment is passed, the returning southern states will stop it before it can become law. Lincoln must, by almost any means possible, obtain enough votes from recalcitrant Congress before peace arrives and it is too late. Yet the president is torn, as an early peace would save thousands of lives. As the nation confronts its conscience over the freedom of its entire population, Lincoln faces his own crisis of conscience -- end slavery or end the war.

It is set among the marshes of Kent and in London in the early-to-mid 1800s. From the outset, the viewer is "treated" by the terrifying encounter between Pip, the protagonist, and the escaped convict, Abel Magwitch. Great Expectations is a graphic movie, full of extreme imagery, poverty, prison ships, "the hulks," barriers and chains, and fights to the death. It therefore combines intrigue and unexpected twists of autobiograhical detail in different tones. The movie reflects the events of the time, Dickens' concerns, and the relationship between society and man.

Movie Of The Week
Based On A True Story
Review: Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski take the reigns in this Drama, which is Based on a true story. Recommended to all ages... get immersed in this feel good and intense story. The romatic element was not essential to the movie because all feelings are directed towards the whales. Otherwise the director and cast manage to pull off a great 5 Star heart warming movie.. A MUST WATCH.
